My 2024 Travel Plans and Wishlist

It’s that time of year where I start dreaming big for the year ahead! While I haven’t been 100 percent successful at accomplishing every destination on these lists (2023 was pretty close), it doesn’t mean a girl can’t try!

Experiencing Carnival and exploring Brazil

My first trip in 2024 will be heading down to South America two weeks from today! I’ll be spending the month of February in Brazil, primarily Florianopolis, through Remote Year, doing a remote workcation (and well-needed break from the New England winter). My hubby, Sean will be joining me for a week halfway through the month and we’ll be heading to Rio during the end of Carnival! I can’t wait to get a glimpse of this experience as well as see some major sites in Rio, including Christ the Redeemer. I’m also excited to explore more of Brazil’s famous nature sites on a few other long weekends, including Iguazu Falls and the Amazon rainforest!

One of the natural wonders of the world, Iguazu!

Visiting a National Park or Two in Utah

Last year I attended the Women in Travel Summit in Puerto Rico, hosted by Wanderful. I’m hoping to attend again this year, which is being hosted in Salt Lake City and Park City, Utah, a state I’ve been itching to visit! After the conference, I’m hoping to be able to rent a car and drive down to the Moab area and visit Arches National Park and Canyonlands National Park! If I had more vacation time, I’d try to hit up the other major parks, but if I can at least visit 1 or 2, I’ll consider myself lucky!

A birthday and wedding in Algarve, Portugal

One of my husband’s closest friends is getting married in the Algarve region of Portugal the day after my birthday this year in September and invited us to the wedding! We’re hoping to make a long weekend in Portugal out of it and kayak through the Benagil caves and enjoy the beaches.

Wandering the desert in Morocco

After the wedding in Portugal, we’re hoping to spend 5-6 days in nearby Morocco! It’s been a dream of mine to ride a camel in the desert as well as participate in some other adventurous activities in the desert, including ATVing and sandboarding! I have also been daydreaming of visiting the northern African region and I can’t wait to finally explore this part of the continent!

Japan to Finally Meet My Pen Pal

At this point, my vacation time is definitely dwindling but I’m hoping to find some time at some point in 2024 to finally visit Japan! I have a pen pal there that I’ve been writing to for 20 years now and have been wanting to meet her in person. Anything else we do during that time will be an added bonus!

Do you have any travel plans for 2024? Let me know!

  1. Those are some really great and diverse travel plans. I hope you get to them all. I don’t have a wedding in Portugal, but we’re going anyway (for spring break) where we’ll see Lisbon and Porto. In the summer it’s Australia, and Charleston, SC, in the fall.
