I usually don’t wait until April to share my hopeful travel plans and wish list. But in the age of the Coronavirus, it’s challenging to plan any adventures, local or abroad. But now that I’m finally in the process of getting the COVID-19 vaccine (I just received my first one and get my second one in May!), there’s more hope for planning both national and an international trip in the near future. Here’s what I’m hoping to see and do for later in 2021:
Learn to Scuba Dive Course, Portsmouth, New Hampshire

I have been thinking about taking a scuba diving vacation to get my Open Water Certification. But perhaps I should take a discover scuba class to see if this is something I will actually enjoy! Luckily I live right along the coast, near Portsmouth, New Hampshire, which has a scuba center! Portsmouth Scuba offers both a dive shop and classes for prospective novices (like me) to more experienced divers, including PADI certifications, guided shore dives, and boat dives to the nearby Isle of Shoals.
Adirondacks/Lake Placid, New York

The Adirondack Mountains in upstate New York are home to the largest protected natural area in the lower 48 of the United States and spans across several lakes, valleys, and cliffs. My husband, Sean and I booked a 3 night getaway during Memorial Day weekend in Lake Placid, to spend wandering the mountains with our new pup, Sophie! Some of our bucket list places include visiting the Olympic Village, exploring Whiteface Mountain, Ausable Chasm, and High Falls Gorge.
North Carolina

Sean and I have been thinking for some time of relocating from New England down to North Carolina. With its beautiful landscapes, milder weather (we’re getting over the cold New England winters!), and low cost of living, this state seems to have a lot to offer! Contingent on the pandemic, we’re hoping to take a trip down south in the fall to explore the Tar Heel State.
Soaking in the Sky Lagoon and See the Northern Lights, Iceland

It’s been 5 years since I first traveled to Iceland and I’m really hoping to go back! From now until April 13th, Icelandair is hosting a package deal, including flights (from select cities), hotel with breakfast, and ticket to Iceland’s new Sky Lagoon! Opening this year, the Sky Lagoon is an oceanside geothermal lagoon, offering amazing opportunities to watch the sunset and even see the Northern Lights! I’m planning on going for a long weekend in October (contingent on the pandemic, of course) and it’ll be a well-needed, relaxing solo tip.
