Some of the places I wish to explore…

As 2016 comes to an end, now is the time to start re-vamping the bucket list and plan for some new countries to explore in the upcoming new year. While I did not travel as much this year as I would have liked, I was very fortunate to visit Iceland and Montreal for the first time. As 2017 is approaching, I’m hoping to visit some new places as well as some old favorites. Here are the places I’m dreaming to explore:

Quebec City, Canada

This destination is actually confirmed, as I will be spending a long weekend in the lovely city with my significant other to ring in the new year! We are hoping to visit hot spot destinations, including Old Quebec, Quartier Petit Champlain and Place Royale, Parliament Hill, and the Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupre Shrine, to name a few.

Nicaragua

Nicaragua will always be my first love. My first country abroad, I’ve been lucky enough to visit this vibrant country twice through a volunteer service trip. I’m hoping to embark on a similar experience this year through an alumni service trip in spring.

Machu Picchu (and the rest of Peru)

As I currently finish up my Master’s degree in Public Health, I’m hoping to pursue a global health internship abroad for my practicum experience. As of right now, I have my eyes on pursuing a summer internship in Peru. When I’m not interning, I’m hoping to explore gems such as Machu Picchu, explore Cuzco city, go paragliding in Lima, and hike the Inca trail.

Ecuador

If I’m successful in launching an internship in Peru, I’m hoping to spend some time in the neighboring country of Ecuador. Top destinations include exploring the capital of Quito, visit “the middle of the world”, go bungee jumping, and swing at the end of the world in Banos.

This destination has been on my travel wish list for quite some time, and I’m ashamed to admit that I still have not yet been, despite living so close to the area. With its stunning landscapes and gorgeous views, I’m making this coastal destination a must for 2017.

Where are you hoping to explore in 2017?!
